Rawalpindi, MTT News Desk: Fai’s arrest is illegal and unacceptable. USA wants to settle Kashmir on Indian conditions. Kashmiris will not compromise on their right of self-determination. India will have to leave Kashmir at all cost. Fai is peace-loving person, who had dedicated his whole life for Kashmiris. If USA tried to make Fai, a Kashmiri Karzai, Kashmiris will not accept it. Why FBI was silent when Fai was meeting with US Presidents. Fai’s Kashmir American Council is a registered NGO and is working for the Kashmir cause. Fai empowered Kashmiris with moral and diplomatic support. Not only Pakistan, but Indian and Israeli government also fund different

lobbying firms and NGOs in USA, Europe and many other countries. Pakistan’s ISI does not have to fund Fai as hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis and Kashmiris settled in USA provide financial support to the Kashmir cause. USA thinks that settling Kashmir dispute on Indian conditions will boost India’s morale to stand against China. Pakistan is not un-capable to free Kashmir with force. Kashmiris and Pakistanis are only light of Hope for each other. If Pakistan has to live with peace and stability, it must take solid steps to resolve the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of Kashmiris and Pakistanis and that should be as soon as possible, no matter what would be the cost. Kashmiris are still committed with Pakistan and no power can substitute their wishes with any other option.

It is nothing difficult to estimate that the arrest of Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, the Executive Director of the US-based Kashmir American Council is the result of American extremism and narrow

mindedness against Muslims as well as an attempt to please the government of India during Hillary Clinton’s visit to New Delhi. It is also very much obvious that the US policy makers’ have tried to settle their old scores with Pakistan under the cover of this arrest. Whatever be the reality, the arrest of Dr.Fai would add another strain to the already worsening relationship between the US and Pakistan.

The situation must be no doubt shocking as well as alarming for the Muslims all over the world and particularly for the people of Pakistan. The CIA and FBI have always tried their best to exploit such type of incidents for distortion of the peaceful image of Pakistan particularly the image of Pakistan Army and the ISI. According to the media reports the US authorities have claimed to trace the links between the ISI and Dr.Fai. Same type of allegations was imposed in case of Osama Bin Laden.

US Justice Department officials said that Dr Fai was busy in efforts to push the Kashmiri cause in Washington with Pakistani funding over a decade-long. The US Justice Department alleged in a statement that Washington based Kashmir American Council headed by Dr Fai, is actually run by elements of the Pakistani government. According to FBI Assistant Director in Charge James Mc Junkin, Dr Fai and another man Zaheer Ahmad were being funded by the Pakistani government through its spy agency ISI. US Department of Justice blamed that Dr Fai’s handlers in Pakistan showered millions of dollars upon the Council to promote the Kashmiri cause among US politicians and other decision-makers in Washington. FBI agent Sarah Webb Linden said in documents filed in federal court in Virginia, “Dr. Fai has received at least $4 million from the Pakistani government since the 1990’s through Zaheer and his funding network in Pakistan. During all this period Dr. Fai has received approximately $500,000 to $700,000 per year from the government of Pakistan.”

Although high-ranking officers of the Indian Army like Chief of Army Staff, Gen. V.K. Singh, Lt. Gen. Surendra Kumar Sahni, Lt. Gen. S.K. Dahiya, Maj-Gen. Anand Swaroop, Maj-Gen SP

Sinha, Maj-Gen. Anand Kapoor, Maj-Gen. Gur Iqbal Singh Multani, Brig. Guredeep Singh including a number of low-ranking officials were found involved in corruption of various forms such as irregularities in procuring meat and dry rations for the troops, stationed at Siachen, unauthorised construction of a golf club building at Ambala cantonment, possessing disproportionate assets, smuggling of large quantities of defence liquor etc., yet involvement of the 27 officers of the Indian Army in illegally selling of arms and weapons is most surprising.

In this regard, on July 7 this year, even Indian media disclosed this new mal-practice of Indian Army officials. Army sources of India admitted that the officers, mostly lieutenant colonels and colonels, had faced a court of inquiry following a public suit filed in the Rajasthan High Court by an advocate who said that the officers were selling their private weapons to people of dubious character.

In this respect, The Economic Times revealed on July 7, 2011, “the weapons were bought by these army officers from the Central Ordnance Depot of Jabalpur and later sold to civilians in violation of the Arms Act, the petition had contended. The Supreme Court is presently hearing the case.”

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Tahreek e Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir (TeH) has strongly denounced the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) again on its illegally detained activists and described it as frustration of the Indian authorities. The TeH spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the court had time and again quashed their illegal detention under the PSA but the authorities, despite the court orders, were not releasing them.

In the wake of AQ Khan Network scandal in 2004, Pakistan had taken series of effective measures to prevent recurrence of nuclear proliferation. India in concert with its friendly US officials, media and think tanks then started playing upon the possibility of theft from within by Taliban sympathizers working in nuclear establishments.

189-nation Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) signed by three recognized nuclear powers USA, former USSR and UK in 1970 had been formulated essentially to restrain all other nuclear powers or would be powers from indulging in nuclear arms race and to free the world of menace of nuclear weapons by an early date. Review conference has taken place every five years but so far the dream of a nuclear-weapon-free world has remained elusive mainly due to reluctance of leading nuclear powers from getting rid of their nuclear arsenal.

The main objective of NPT was to put an effective check on other states from acquiring nuclear capability rather than curtailing or eliminating their stockpiles. However, Israel and India were clandestinely helped by the nuclear club to become nuclear powers which impelled several Arab countries, Pakistan and Iran to pursue the path of nuclearization. India-US civil nuclear deal inked in 2008 has enabled India to acquire unlimited nuclear technology and fuel from Nuclear Suppliers Group to pursue its nuclear weapons program. This was done despite knowing that India is not a signatory to NPT. This discriminatory act has blown the very concept of NPT to shreds.

The plan envisages pulling-out of most of the troops by end 2012, less10-12000 troops, comprising mainly Special Forces and the Marines to hold the fortresses of Kabul, Kandhar and Herat and the nearby air bases, at Kwaja Rawat, Kandhar and Shindand. Jalalabad will be held as a fortress by the Afghan Army. Mazar-e-Sharif and the air base at Dehdadi, will be developed as fortresses by the Northern Alliance.

Who is deceiving whom? Whom should Pakistanis believe? Conflicting statements by Pakistani leadership and US officials have added to the confusion and deepened the mystery surrounding Shamsi airbase. While Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar announced that the US had been asked to vacate the base, US officials were quick to respond ,“that base is neither vacated nor being vacated,” and that no formal request was received from Pakistani authorities to evacuate the Shamsi air base.

The Defence Minister was surely embarrassed when Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan asserted that the government was unaware of any issue relating to the base, saying, “No such matter ever came under consideration in the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC) of which I am also a member.”

The Washington Post recently reported that the US had halted drone strikes from Shamsi three months ago after the Raymond Davis dispute and all attacks since then were launched from bases in Afghanistan. While The Post also disclosed that US personnel and Predator drones still remain at Shamsi, the US State Department stated that it was not aware if the United States still had military personnel at Shamsi air base.

Our media has created super hype over incidents of US helicopters assault in Abbottabad, Mehran naval base attack, Kharotabad incident in Quetta, killing of Sarfaraz Shah in Karachi at the hands of soldier of Sindh Rangers, and murder of journalist Saleem Shehzad. The wrath of media is focused on armed forces, particularly Army and ISI and it looks as if it has old scores to settle and is giving vent to its pent up resentment. It is not leaving any stone unturned to tarnish the high reputation and image of Army and ISI and its rancorous posturing is in harmony with biased foreign media which has a specific agenda.

In case of US SEALs raid on OBL’s compound, instead of putting USA to shame for stabbing a close ally in the back, our media pointed all its guns on DGISI and wanted his resignation. Again when Mehran incident occurred, which was not possible without in-house and external support, our media blasted the naval chief and intelligence agencies. Murder of Shehzad was pinned on ISI to give strength to unsubstantiated allegation made by Adil Hasan, a researcher in Human Rights Asia Watch and notorious Asma Jahangir, a known Army basher. Kharotabad incident in which the FC soldiers killed five Chechens on the pointing of police was sensationalized by media simply because an Army officer was part of the shooting team. Karachi incident was also dramatized since Rangers were seen as part of Army not realizing that both FC and Rangers fall under the authority of Interior Minister and Army has no role in its employment.

Having a close look at the clip flashed hundreds of times on all TV channels to trigger sympathy wave for the deceased Sarfaraz, one wonders why didn’t he beseech the policemen who had caught him red handed with a pistol in his hand mugging a passerby, pulling his hair and beating him? What for was he pleading the Rangers on duty to whom he was handed over by police? Why was Sarfaraz not stepping backwards and not cowering in sheer fright rather than continuously moving forward towards the soldier pointing a loaded weapon towards him despite being repeatedly warned to stay back? He came so menacingly close to the gunman that he dipped the barrel of the gun downwards. What if was wearing a suicide jacket under his shirt and had pressed the button or had snatched the rifle and started firing indiscriminately resulting in death and injury of scores of people. Why didn’t the media highlight the criminal background of Sarfaraz who was a member of eight involved in hundreds of crimes?

In the post-Osama scenario, taking cognisance of the recent major terror-events such as militants’ assault on Pakistan’s naval base, cross-border attack of 500 heavily armed militants who entered Pakistan’s Upper Dir from Afghanistan on May 22, and again targetted the Bajaur Agency on June 16 in wake of intensity of subversive acts and drone strikes in the country, our political experts agree that before leaving Afghanistan, US will shift Afghan war to Pakistan.

Notably, on June 22, Obama confirmed that troops withdrawal from Afghanistan will commence from this July and will be completed in 2014. While referring to Islamabad, Obama elaborated, “we will work with the Pakistani government to root out the cancer of violent extremism…no country is more endangered by the presence of violent extremists.” While ignoring the sovereignty of Pakistan and resolution of the parliament in this respect, Obama repeatedly made it clear, “he was ready to order more assaults against any safe havens” of terrorists in Pakistan.

In fact, under the pretext of Talibanisation of Pakistan and unrest in the country, which has collevtively been created by the American CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad, as shown by a perennial wave of suicide attacks, bomblasts, targetted killings, assaults on the checkposts of the security forces including support to Baloh separtists, US with the help of its arch anti-Pakistan allies like India and Israel has been destabilising Pakistan, while preparing ground to ‘denculearise’ the latter by propagating in the world that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons are not safe.
